As India celebrates National Technology Day on May 11, we at WBD want to take the moment to reflect on how our amazing technologists in India contribute to this organization with their energy, passion, and one-team mindset.

Next up is Director of Engineering Ashish Gujar.

The sheer volume of content Warner Bros. Discovery owns means we’re constantly striving to create bigger and better technology to best support and serve that content. For today’s Employee Spotlight, that means all things ad tech. Director of Engineering Ashish Gujar is currently working to build a complete in-house ad platform to serve ads on WBD direct-to-consumer properties. He and his team ideate, design, and ultimately construct various solutions for these properties – no small feat given the scale they’re working with day-to-day.

Ashish says that that in particular is what makes his job so exciting. He and his team are working on something inherently groundbreaking because of its size and reach. “WBD is one of the largest media companies in the world,” he explains, “so what we’re building has the potential to redefine advertising for OTT.”

The platform has also provided a special moment in Ashish’s career journey. “After working for years satisfying requirements from various publishers and advertisers,” he tells us, “this is a unique opportunity to be part of the group innovating the way advertising should be done for OTT platforms.” Another upside? Bragging rights. “There is no greater satisfaction than boasting to friends – and annoying them as well – during ad breaks,” he laughs.

Ashish believes the success of the platform goes hand-in-hand with how well his team works together. As a leader, he says that means he can’t look at any problem as too small for him to help in solving. “If a team leader is willing to go in and work at ground zero, I believe the overall team morale gets a boost, and then no goal is impossible.”

Ashish joined WBD a little over a year ago and has been working to create a unique and enriching experience for consumers and advertisers alike since he started. How does he feel about working at WBD now, a year later? “If you’re looking to innovate, ideate, and break the rules to build better products,” he says, “then this is the place for you.”
