Tell us about your career journey and how you arrived in your current role.

I joined Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter in February 2025 after freelancing as a sound engineer for five years. I had entered a period of uncertainty and wanted to try something new, so I applied to join the Studio Tour as an Interactor.

The role was completely different to anything I had previously done and involved new challenges, such as public speaking in front of large numbers of visitors.

I worked at the Studio Tour from February to September 2025 before moving over to Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in my current role in October 2025.

What inspired you to apply for an internal opportunity?

I grew up a stone's throw from the studios, so the site has always had a huge presence within my local community. It was exciting to watch the site expand dramatically into something almost unrecognisable from what it once was.

While in my role at the Studio Tour, I was made aware of the Studio Operations Assistant opportunity. Upon reading the job description, I noticed how many of my own strengths aligned with the role, as well as the long-term opportunities ahead. I knew I wanted to continue my journey with the company, and doing so in my current role is something I am very proud of.

Which skills or experiences from your previous role helped you succeed in your new position?

There are a lot of transferable skills I developed in my previous role that I use in my current position. Being an Interactor taught me how to communicate confidently and clearly, a skill I now use when inducting new productions into our stages.

I also use the customer service skills I developed at the Studio Tour when resolving production queries. Working within such a large team also allowed me to build strong communication and teamwork skills, both of which are essential to my day-to-day role at the studios.

What has been the biggest surprise since making the move?

One thing that surprised me about the move is just how much collaboration takes place internally.

It's been fantastic to work with and learn from colleagues across a range of departments. I have enjoyed seeing how different teams work together to keep the site running efficiently and gaining a deeper understanding of the operation as a whole.

This has shown me the importance of clear communication and allowed me to strengthen working relationships with the shared goal of best supporting our productions.

What advice would you give to colleagues considering their next career move within the business?

My advice would be to stay open to opportunities and if it feels right for you, just go for it!

Take time to understand the role, speak with your colleagues and always be open to learning from your peers. Be confident in the transferable skills you already have and recognise how they can be applied in a different position or team.

Continue to network and build relationships with your peers across the business as a simple conversation can lead to a new opportunity.
