Introducing David Hewitt, our VP and Studio Head at Monolith Productions (WB Games)!

With a storied career spanning more than 20 years, David’s first foray into games began with PC racing sims in Adelaide, his hometown and former host city of the F1 Grand Prix in South Australia. Now, following a decade-long tenure at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio working on God of War (and a remarkable family road-trip across 1,135 miles to relocate in Seattle, WA) he is ready for a fresh challenge.

Stepping into his new executive role, David plans to double down on Monolith’s distinctive identity as the studio enters a new chapter:

“Monolith’s level of talent and craft expertise is off the charts, and the team culture is very strong,” he states. “To honestly identify what we’re best at – and to pursue that relentlessly, having each other’s backs and checking each other’s blind spots as we go – that’s what will equip us to compete at the highest level in the industry. That’s the success I want for this team.”

His leadership philosophy? Amplifying strengths, rather than correcting weaknesses.

“Everyone at Monolith has at least one superpower,” says David. “Rather than focus our attention on becoming well-rounded and working on our least naturally strong areas, we can instead choose to focus on how we can best lean up against each other, so we can all reach further, together. We must ensure our people receive opportunities to cultivate their talents, to become the best in the world at what they do, supported by leadership and those around them.”
