ABOUT THE GUEST

Erica Banks is a Vice President of Software Engineering leading the CNN Platforms group, responsible for developing the content publishing platform for CNN storytelling and a video-centric software stack utilized across multiple WBD brands. As a seasoned technology leader with 23 years in the media and tech industries, her career has spanned many roles on the journey from software developer to technology executive. Much of her tenure at Warner Bros. Discovery has been dedicated to Sports technology partnerships, including NBA Digital, Bleacher Report, and Sports Illustrated. Before joining WBD, Erica held various software leadership roles at IBM Global Services and The Home Depot. Born and raised in the Atlanta area, Erica earned her B.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech (Go Jackets!) and a M.S. in Information Technology from Southern Polytechnic State. Beyond her professional life, she has a keen interest in historical eras and places, interior design, and fast cars. Erica’s passion for technology began in the 6th grade, when she wrote her first computer program in BASIC on an Apple IIe computer. She never imagined that one day she would achieve the phenomenal career milestone of being a VP of Software Engineering. She has truly enjoyed every step of this incredible journey!
