At age 5, Kristina M. was absolutely terrified of water – even dipping her toes in the pool was out of the question. But just one year later she had joined her town’s swim team, competed in championships and broke numerous local records by the time she was 12.

“Sheer willpower and determination caused me to break my fear,” says Kristina. “This has continued to help me strive to be the best I can be, both in and out of the water.”

And sure enough, Kristina has taken that same tenacity and applied it to her professional career, first entering the military simulation industry and developing various training systems. However, she couldn’t resist the call of her long-standing interest in video games for long – she is now one of the incredibly talented women at Warner Bros. Games working as a Software Engineer for our Central Games Technology Group.

Since joining the Central Games Technology Group – which specializes in creating shared systems that facilitate communications and powers back-end infrastructures supporting all of our 11 studios – Kristina has found something new and exciting to work on every day. The most fascinating project for her thus far was a solo foray into exploring an alternative type of match system.

“Having the freedom to build a full-fledged game showcasing the technique was incredible,” she explains. “The studios I collaborated with made the experience even more enjoyable. When you can speak directly with studios and hear about the positive impact of something you wrote, it's the most rewarding feeling.”

As she advanced in her role, Kristina found that her team offered limitless growth potential, from having the opportunity to work with various studios and talented developers, to programming a wide array of tools that directly impact up-and-coming games.

“The Central Games Technology team has allowed me to explore my talents, while giving me the tools to expand my knowledge base in unimaginable ways,” she says. “Everything I've worked on is different and challenging. Together with my affable co-workers, the environment I was welcomed into is one that constantly helps me succeed.”
