Q: How has your current role allowed you the opportunity to drive impact and champion inclusion for women in the sports industry?

A: My current role as Vice-President of Strategic Brand and Talent Communications has allowed me to shine a light on the possibilities of being a woman working in this industry by being in the room and having a voice at the table. It allows me to champion women who are more than capable of being included. I’ve been able to highlight the work of the dynamic women talent on our roster including Candace Parker, Taylor Rooks, Stephanie Ready, Allie LaForce, Lauren Shehadi and others, strategize and create dynamic campaigns that amplify our voices behind the scenes. I’ve also created DEI campaigns that allow younger women to have opportunities to work in sports.

Q: March Madness is upon us. What do you love most about working on projects like this?

A: It’s really the greatest time of year for a sports fan. College basketball games – men and women – are on multiple channels and platforms. Knowing that I’m heavily involved in such a fast-paced, energetic time of year with colleagues that are all working towards that goal makes the early mornings and long nights worth it.

Q: The theme for Women’s History Month this year is women who advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion. What has motivated you to show up for yourself and others?

A: What motivates me to show up for myself is being a light for others. I let my authentic voice set me up for success. Everyone is going to have a different path but if I know that my journey and role can help women just starting in this industry or with only a few years under their belt navigate this space, it keeps me going.

Q: What advice do you have for other women hoping to break into the sports and communications industry?

A: Don’t be afraid to use your voice and your instinct is your best asset.

Q: What would you like more people to know about the work that you do?

It’s exciting to be able to tell the stories of what TNT Sports is doing whether on screen or behind the scenes. There is an abundance of dynamic content for all of our sports properties including NBA, NCAA, NHL, MLB and soccer and the people working on all of it are immensely talented. The best part of my job is amplifying what we do and who they are. I also love the part of my job that lets me do the “heart work.” The work that is important and impactful like ENGAGE, our student initiatives program and Women of Sports, which helps to propel women working at TNT Sports.
