From engineer to entrepreneur, Sam Ahn has spent most of his career as a software engineer and co-founded multiple startups in the tech industry. Now, as an Advanced Product Manager at WB Games Boston, he applies this same enterprising mentality towards driving feature developments and improving the technical quality of live games.

But aside from working on world-renowned IP alongside the best talent in the business, Sam finds that empathy and being considerate of others is the best part about his team.

“I really appreciate how we care about people's mental health and overall quality of life,” says Sam. “There are always challenges, but I can see that we try to improve practices & habits and be mindful of taking care of each other.”

Sam contributes that same mindfulness to his work. As an avid gamer himself, he knows the impact that a positive in-game experience can have on a title’s longevity. From refining how players manage their gear and search for targets on the combat map, to significantly reducing loading times, he is most fond of the quality-of-life improvements his team has made to the popular mobile strategy title, Game of Thrones: Conquest.

“It’s so great to hear positive feedback from our players about the improvements we’ve made,” he says. “While these changes don't directly impact big KPIs, I strongly believe regularly enhancing the overall experience helps maintain a healthy game.”

When he's not upping the ante on the user experience of our games though, you can find Sam maining Bugs Bunny on MultiVersus or rounding up his troops (a.k.a his family of dedicated gamers) for some matches – and we hear the competition is fierce!
