This Women’s History Month, we are shining a light on the real-life superheroes: the phenomenal female talent working behind-the-scenes at WBD, each an example of dedication and courage in their respective fields.

Next up is Simone Millwood, Set Lighting and Rigging Assistant at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden.

"I had the pleasure of creating and holding a series of events for Black History Month in October 2022. It was called Week Of Wonder, and every day we celebrated a region of Africa or the diaspora. We showcased a variety of cultural performances, historical facts and information on each region. I invited emerging and established black businesses to come and sell a variety of cultural foods associated with the region of the day. It made me incredibly proud that I was able to create an event that could showcase my culture, whilst creating a platform to provide a positive educational experience, entertainment, and promotion of authentic cultural food.

I had one young employee from The Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour approach me and tell me how much it meant to her to see her culture promoted in such a respectful and authentic way. It made me realise how important it is to have a platform to promote culture and identity in the corporate setting. I’m currently planning this year’s events and am determined to make sure that this is an annual social and corporate event.”
