From your favorite runs of HGTV shows to the broadcast of "MasterChef," there is a lot that goes into iconic TV programming. No one knows that better than Hortensia "Tenchi" Quadreny, VP Programming USH & Planning USH/Latam. In this edition of WBD's Meet our Storytellers, Hortensia reflects on her 15+ year journey with WBD – from intern to leadership, and what has inspired her along the way.

Q: From intern to VP, you have grown your career with the company. What was your experience as an intern and how did it encompass the path that you're in today?

A: As an intern for the U.S. Hispanic team, I had to learn many tasks and be extremely resourceful as my entire team was in another city. Due to the scope of the U.S. Hispanic team at the time, we were a one-stop shop for programming, from the selection and scheduling, to the processing of materials to get them ready for air. I also had to learn about marketing areas like gathering artwork and creating TV listings. It was truly a task-filled position, but one that set an amazing foundation and understanding around the life of a program. This knowledge has served me well in my career at Warner Bros. Discovery, allowing me to contribute to all the teams that I have been fortunate to be part of.

Q: How have mentors played a critical role in your career and what have you learned about the power of mentorship and allyship as you've led your own team?

A: Mentors have truly been the key to my success. I have been extremely fortunate to have had amazing female leaders that not only paved the way for me but gave me the tools and coaching for me to reach my goals. I have had different types of mentors: those that have expanded my view of the business, those that have inspired my creativity to keep pushing the envelope, and those that have showed me ways of navigating through corporate politics. I have also had great allied in male leadership; having this support has been key to getting my voice heard and receiving recognition. I take this part of my growth extremely seriously and always try to pay it forward with peers and colleagues as well as outside when I meet any person or professional seeking advice or guidance in their careers.

Q: In your role, you oversee the content and programming strategy across Latin American and U.S. Hispanic markets. How have you been able to maximize your impact through the projects you work on and the audiences you serve? What stands out to you?

A: Dealing with content has given me the pleasure to serve the masses by providing a window to a world of diverse information. Content is key and it has brought me joy exposing audiences to worlds they would not have known about. For example, our medical programming has given hope to consumers seeking more information about possible ailments or cures through our medical documentaries. In the past, we have received feedback from consumers on how our programs have made a positive impact on their lives.

Q: How have your experiences opened up windows of opportunity to connect with others? What fuels your passion?

A: At Warner Bros. Discovery, our #OneTeam mentality has been a guiding value and regular practice; I have colleagues and friends from all around the world because of my job. I have met and learned about our cultural diferences because of this job. I not only met, but learned about our cultural differences because of this company and my roles. My roles have fueled my journalistic approach and satisfied my curiosity of the world.

I studied journalism, sociology and anthropology in college, so building my career in content has allowed me to mix my passions. My goal in everything I do is to be intentional and purpose driven.

Q: Are there any recent projects you've worked on that you're excited about?

A: As a sponsor to the Vibras BRG in our office, I have been able to bridge the gap between content and local initiatives, to create a win-win situation. We have been able to successfully tie back our local initiatives supporting Pride and Hispanic Heritage by creating intentional activities, and best of all, highlighting our home-grown talent and productions.
